From Paletas to Portraits: My Journey Behind the Lens
Hi there! I'm Sandra, and I'm so glad you're here.
I thought I’d kick off this blog by sharing a little bit about who I am—beyond the camera, behind the smile, and under the studio lights.
I'm a portrait photographer based in Fremont, California, specializing in capturing the magic of childhood, maternity, and family moments. But my journey didn’t start here.
I actually spent most of my life working at my family’s paletería (Mexican ice cream shop) in Mexico., which is the main job of the hard-working people of my natal town named TOCUMBO. I grew up learning about customer service, responsibility, and hard work from behind a counter—scooping ice cream, managing staff, handling customers, and dreaming of something bigger. Now I know that is really big already but...
When I picked up a camera for the first time, everything changed. I realized I had the power to freeze time, to celebrate life’s beauty, and to show people how radiant they truly are.
Today, I work from my home studio, transforming ordinary days into timeless memories. My sessions are more than just photos—they’re an experience. I want my clients to feel seen, celebrated, and confident. I believe every woman, every mother, every child deserves to be photographed with love and intention.
This blog is where I’ll share behind-the-scenes stories, tips for planning your session, real client experiences, and personal reflections on what it means to be a photographer, an immigrant, a mom, and a business owner.
Whether you're here looking for inspiration, information, or just a dose of honesty and heart—welcome. This is just the beginning.
With love,
Sandra
